Our January 2016 guitar making course finished up on Saturday with some fantastic instruments.
It was a small class this time with two participants, Keith and Victor.
Keith built a Dreadnought cutaway model with Indian Rosewood back and sides and a Sitka spruce top. His instrument was in the style of a Martin D-28 with modification of the inlay and trim to suit his preferences. The sound of the finished instrument is rich, deep and resonant. Keith is looking to take on lutherie as a serious hobby in his retirement and aims to build more instruments in the future.
Victor came to the course after completing high school this year. He is considering lutherie as a possible career but will certainly keep it as a hobby if he decides on another career path. He chose to build an OM model with top, back and sides from figured Queensland Blackwood. The sound of his instrument is bright and fundamental with ample volume and good balance.
Our next course is coming up in June/July 2016, for more information please visit www.guitarmaking.com.au
