We have nicknamed it ‘Espresso’ after the dark brown gloss finish which resembles the surface of a long black coffee.
Construction began on this guitar around two months ago so it was a very fast build for us. It is designed by Dane Hancock, who also did most of the building, his goal was to build a solidbody guitar especially suited to the blues.
The body is one-piece Queensland Maple and the neck is American Rock Maple and is a one-piece design including the fingerboard. The hardware is made by Gotoh Japan including the tremolo which is a Wilkinson design.
The sound is delivered by a Seymour Duncan humbucker bridge pickup and a Gibson pickup in the neck position. The controls are kept minimal with a toggle selector switch and common volume and tone controls. The sound in the neck position is sweet familiar while the bridge position is defined and grunty.
