A Collection of Archtop Guitars Begins

We are currently preparing our 2016 collection of archtop guitars.
There are some exciting instruments amongst them. We will be building a mix of traditional and modern models.
Most of the carving of the top and back plates is finished, with Kim Hancock carefully sculpting each plate. Now we can start to make decisions about the details of each instrument we will build from the plates. This is the way we prefer to build instruments, we let the unique properties of each set of timber dictate what we will build from it.
Elements like the trim, soundports and especially the colour can be tailored to suit the grain, figure and colour of the individual pieces of timber to be used. All of the tops of this batch are carved from European Spruce while the Backs are carved from European Maple.
