Classical Guitars

Classical guitars are celebrated for their nuanced responsiveness, fostering a deep connection between the musician and their instrument. We craft our classical guitars with a commitment to achieving the purest sound possible.

Our classical guitars are crafted in accordance with the time-honoured principles established by Antonio de Torres in 19th-century Spain. Torres’s innovative design has become the benchmark for classical guitars to this day.

We currently build models based on the work of Torres and also the German luthier Hermann Hauser I.

Our Approach

The hallmark of an exceptional classical guitar is its sound and we dedicate ourselves to ensuring that each instrument we create possesses an optimal sound character. Tone, volume, and balance are all essential.

Our pursuit of outstanding acoustic quality does not compromise the aesthetic or craftsmanship; every guitar is designed with precision, showcasing the finest materials available.

Guitarists often remark on the lightweight nature of our instruments. When a guitar is built at an appropriate lightness it can effectively transform string energy into captivating sound.

Research & Study

Our quest for excellence in classical guitar making has taken us on extensive journeys, studying the masterpieces of esteemed luthiers.

This knowledge was further enriched during Sean’s studies in Spain under the late master luthier José Romanillos, whose insights have been invaluable in refining our ability to create consistently exceptional guitars.

Materials

The selection of materials is critical in producing a visually stunning and sonically rich classical guitar. We have established strong relationships with specialized timber suppliers to source the finest woods available worldwide.

Particularly important is the guitar’s top; we exclusively use high-quality German Spruce, available in both straight-grained and bearclaw (hazel fichte) varieties. Each top undergoes a minimum seasoning period of six years, ensuring stability and superior resonance.

To enhance the beauty of our classical guitars, we apply a traditional French Polish finish. This meticulous technique involves layering hundreds of ultra-thin coats of shellac, resulting in a glossy, protective finish that not only highlights the natural beauty of the wood but also allows for optimal sound resonance.
