The Hancock Guitars workshop is located on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. Every Hancock instrument is built from start to finish at this location.
We have had five workshops since the business was established in 1992, the longest running being based in Mount Tamborine in the Gold Coast hinterland. Each time we have moved into a new space we aimed to improve on the functionality of the previous workshop.
The current Hancock Guitars workshop was established in 2011 in Bundall. While our previous spaces have been home-based, the current workshop is located in an commercial area. It features a dedicated reception, setup area and dust room for sanding and other tooling.
The workshop has been kept traditional and tasks are still performed by hand with woodworking tools. All guitars are individually made, not made in batches as they would be in a guitar factory, a method which allows us to keep a keen eye on every instrument from start to finish.
Twice a year we put our own guitar making on hold and the workshop is transformed into a learning environment during our guitar making courses. The courses run for two weeks and are a way for others to experience, hands-on, the satisfaction of building an acoustic guitar.
