The Wayfarer is a lightweight solidbody electric with all the qualities of a true players’ guitar – great tone, good looks and effortless playability.

SOUND
The sound is unique, versatile and tonally rich as a guitar can get. A pair of Phat Cat pickups give the guitar the elusive tone of the best P-90s of the 50’s & 60s, a sound that is very fat and warm with plenty of grunt and sustain when needed. It’s as sound suited to a range of musical styles from jazz through to surf rock, psychedelic and heavy rock.

The controls are minimal with a toggle switch to select between pickups and a single volume and tone control.

PLAYABILITY
The feel of the guitar is comfortable and familiar, like a favourite pair of jeans. It is made to be played and every detail has been designed to put the player at ease, from the super-smooth neck profile, through to the low action and lightweight body.

BODY & NECK
The body is made of Empress Wood, a remarkable timber that has only recently been adopted as a tonewood. Two exceptional properties of Empress Wood (sometimes called Paulownia) are it’s light weight and it’s sustain. This has allowed us to build something almost unheard of, a very lightweight guitar with abundant sustain.

Empress Wood is plantation grown in northern New South Wales. It’s a completely sustainable material and an ideal substitute for the rainforest timbers that most electric guitars are made from.

The body is finished in a natural finish and has been ‘reliced’ or aged during the finishing process. This adds character to the look of the guitar and makes it less susceptible to damage, as any accidental bumps the body might get will not stand out.

The neck is American Rock Maple and is a one-piece design incorporating the fingerboard. The entire instrument is finished in a satin Nitrocellulose lacquer, a traditional finish that is lightweight, durable and doesn’t interfere with the resonance of the timbers underneath.

HARDWARE
All of the hardware is made by Gotoh Japan and is of the highest quality. The tremolo is a two-point fulcrum type and is very smooth to use while maintaining excellent tuning stability. A Tusq XL nut with impregnated teflon adds to the tuning stability by allowing the strings to move freely in the nut slots.

The vintage-style tuners are finished in black chrome and feature ‘Magnum Lock’ string locking for added tuning stability and fast restringing.

The black pickguard features a subtly engraved animal design, a plain pickguard is also supplied.

CASE
Choose from a deluxe Hiscox flight case or a Mono deluxe semi-rigid gigbag.
