A traditionally crafted instrument of small proportions and large possibilities.

The guitalele is the newest addition to the range of instruments we build. The body size and scale length of this guitalele is the same as a tenor ukulele. It is strung with six strings like a guitar so it can be played in the same way. It is a very musical instrument and is fun to play in both rhythm and fingerpicking styles. The sound is sweet and loud and maintains clarity into the high registers.

We have utilised the same techniques and fine materials as we use when building a guitar. The back and sides are made from Spanish Cypress, a timber which is commonly used in Flamenco guitars. The top is German Spruce, a timber which has a long history in musical instruments and is used on most fine classical and flamenco instruments.

Aesthetics have been kept simple and elegant. The body is intentionally left free from decoration allowing the simple beauty of the timbers to become a feature. The edges have been carefully joined and finished in a way to give the instrument a look of being sculptured from a single block of timber.

The Fingerboard is a dark Indian rosewood and has been fitted with Evo gold fretwire. The soft gold colour is also featured in the tuners, which are made by Rubner Germany and are very smooth and precise.

The light coloured timber has been continued to the headstock, which is slotted and shaped in a style reminiscent of traditional classical guitars. The headstock is capped with Spanish Cypress to match the body. The entire instrument is finished in traditional French Polish.
